Siding repair and Replacement

Masonite

Sooner or later your house will probably have some siding that needs to be replaced.  The siding we end up changing out is fiber board call Masonite.  It literlly falls apart because it was defective the day it was made.  There have been a lot of lawsuits over it but chances are if you have a house over ten years old you will have it on your house.

Asbestos

We do not remove asbestos siding.  Permits are require and special equipment and EPA certification is required.  You will need to contact someone else for that.  Houses made in the 1960's are notorious for having it.  The least expensive fix is to side over the top of it and leave it alone.

Vinyl

We can replace all other siding other than asbestos if it gets damaged.  Vinyl siding is easily replaced but keep in mind that it does sun fade in a few months and whenever we replace a few pieces it will not quite color match until it sun fades.  Even the manufacturers will not guarantee it will not fade.  If you have to change out a few pieces and you are dead set on having it all match on the side of the house you better get ready to pay to reside the whole wall.  Vinyl needs only to be power washed once a year, never needs painting.  It does however get ripped off the house in high winds,  offers little fire protection, warps, fades, and cracks easily when it gets old.  It is easy to install and replace and is cost effective.

Hardiplank

Hardiplank siding emerged in the late nineties.  It consists of cement fibers compressed.  It is very durable, won't rot and is easy to cut.  You can replace it anytime it gets damaged.  If  you do not like the color it can be easily changed.  It adds strength to the house and is quite fireproof.  It has a fifty year guarantee.  We recommend changing to Hardiplank if you have to redo a house with Masonite fiber board on it.
