Bathroom repairs and remodeling

Welcome to our bathroom section.  You will find quite a variety of diversity in what we can do.  Some of the jobs we have done required a lot of repairs before we could remodel.  We have done work on new construction too.  Scroll below to get a glimpse of what is in store for you.

Raleigh, N.C. May 2007

We received a call last May from a client who asked us to come out and determine why the bathroom floor was buckling.  She commented that a plumber had already been by and couldn't find any evidence of a water leak.  We ripped up the floor and discovered extensive sill rot.  Our customer told us a year ago they removed an old deck and discovered the siding was rotted.  The original cause was no flashing between the deck sill and the house.  It's now required code and that's why.  We had to repair dry wall rot on both sides of the shower.  We repaired the rot, blocked the floor and added new subflooring.  The vinyl went down smooth.  Look at the end results for yourself.

Wendell, North Carolina  February 2007

Here is a project we did for a couple in Wendell, N.C.  The commode was leaking and they complained of odors they couldn't get rid of no matter how hard they tried.  We removed a 3 by 5 foot section of flooring, and found that the contractor who built the house did not scab around the joist after the plumber put in the waste water pipe.  We repaired that problem and then installed blocking to insure the floor would be solid.  As you can tell, we removed the wall tiles, added a new mirror, hardwood floors, and a medicine cabinet.

The first photo is the bathroom the day we arrived, The next photo shows what happened when we hit the floor with a hammer.  The third photo reveals why the floor had continual problems for years.  We discovered three separate floor repairs.  The next photo shows the new blocking we added to make a proper repair. The homeowner told us they might put in tile down the road so we added the cement board over two layers of plywood.  The last three photos show the removal and replacement of the tub/shower wall.  The last photo is the completed remodel.

Durham, North Carolina  July 2007

Our next success story is similar to the above project. The homeowners found us on the web looking for bathroom wood rot repair.  They saw what we did in the above job and called us on the phone.  The story is similar but when we ripped up the floor we discovered the plumber had installed the sewage discharge line too high.  When the commode was fitted it wouldn't rest flat on the floor so the wax seal was left out.  Over twenty years water dripped slowly onto the floor below the commode base.  Eventually the floor rotted away.  Take a close look at the first photo.  We took a screwdriver and pushed it throug the floor.  The floor is made of particle board with plywood subfloor below.  Our client said" Its nothing but a worm bed!" The floor was easy to remove.  We simply shoveled it into a trash can. We were suprized the floor joists were alright.

Bathroom remodel - New construction and existing

Okay, let's say you just want to remodel and don't have a repair.  Here are some bathrooms we remodeled that did not need a massive overhaul.
